Tamori Taka: The adult world crushes the innocence of a child

HS Wift

I have been HS Wift for the longest time now, through some of the darkest hours I have known, and it warms my heart to know that the light that led me through lives on still.

May it never die.

Keshintai's correspondence trailed off over the last couple of months of the year, until eventually, all of Taka's letters went without reply. Concern filled Taka's mind, and she began to worry that something might have happened to her friend. The only consoling thought she had to cling to was that she would be returning for the year's end soon enough, so she would be able to check in on Keshintai.

Upon her return, Taka wasted no time in heading to the Mirumoto appartments, and inquiring within. The door was answered by quite a stern looking middle-aged woman, Mirumoto Asiya, Keshintai's mother. She looked the young Tamori girl up and down before remarking, "No. I don't think it wise that she see you, given the circumstance."

"What? Why not? What circumstance?"

"Why don't you know, girl? My daughter is to be married. A political affair, nothing for it. I suggest the two of you just learn to accept that."

Taka left the Mirumoto estate, tears streaming from her eyes. And she certainly couldn't accept it.
