Tamori Taka: The final chapter of a most troubled childhood
I have been HS Wift for the longest time now, through some of the darkest hours I have known, and it warms my heart to know that the light that led me through lives on still.
May it never die.
The festival passed by absent either girl's presence, as neither felt particularly festive. When the time came for Taka to return to her studies, she did so eagerly, searching for any distraction from the painful fissure in her heart.
When her own gempukku came about, the mood was far more somber than Keshintai's had been, less than a year before. Taka quite capably passed all of the trials her Sensei set before her. She struggled briefly through the more militant trials, but was ultimately successful. After her Nanori, and receiving her wakizashi, Taka arranged her permission with her sensei to take out the remainder of the year, before returning to her duties as a Samurai. It was unorthodox, but her sensei was a kindly man, and hoped that she might find some measure of comfort in her endeavours.
And this was her plan as well, to travel the land for a little while, to help calm her heart. And there were a few people that she hoped to encounter along the way.

Ah, doesn't the spirit (if not the detail) of this situation sound familiar. Good stuff.
