Tamori Taka: The result of loneliness has a sweeter taste

Leaving Kabura to finish clearing away their archery session, Taka gently scooped up the wounded woodland creature and examined the wound. The kit was losing quite a bit of blood, but the wound wasn't too deep. She'd read about this sort of thing. The wound needs to be cleaned, then dressed.

She took the fox back to Kabura and urgently requested his waterskin. Pouring a little out first to check how clean the water was, she carefully washed the blood and dirt away from the wound. It was as she suspected, the wound wasn't deep enough to need stitches, but it had been exposed to the dirt and detritus for too long and could be infected. She'd read about this too.

Gently laying down the kit, Taka quickly set about building a small fire. Once a spark had caught, she took a smouldering stick and lightly singed the edges of the wound. Wasting no time, she tore off a strip of her sleeve and wrapped the wound.

"Where'd you learn to do that?" Kabura asked incredulously.

Taka shrugged, "I read a lot..."
