Tamori Taka: The inherent lessons of Rokugani chess
I have been HS Wift for the longest time now, through some of the darkest hours I have known, and it warms my heart to know that the light that led me through lives on still.

"... and your nine pawns form the front rank. Rember, Shogi is a game of patience; if you do not take the time to consider your options, then you will not be the victor. Do you have any questions, or would you like to play a game?"
They played many games of Shogi that evening, with Doji Semita, as he introduced himself, taking it easy on young Taka to start with, and raising the bar as she came to grasp the rules of the game.
Over the next two days, they filled their evenings with Shogi and conversation, with Semita telling tales of his many experiences, Taka speaking of her difficulties and isolation. By the end of Semita's stay, Taka was fast becoming a worthy adversary.
"Well, Taka-chan, this is goodbye, though I should hope not for good. Let me leave you with some advice. Life is like Shogi, it requires patience. Those fools that cannot see your worth are not themselves worthy of your company, and eventually, if you're patient, you'll find more enlightened friends, and you shall find your happiness."
