Burning Questions: Hit the window with the extinguisher again
This is "slapdashmonuments" creating a new Ficlatte account for the purpose of trying to write some Choose Your Own Adventure stories using Ficlatte's sequeling features. I'll tag work-in-progress parts WIP until the whole story is ready to play.
The first full story, "Burning Questions," is available now:

You settle your stance once again, balancing the heavy extinguisher on your shoulder, which is getting sore. You wham it into the weaker part of the window even harder than before.
The good news is that the window pane drops out of the frame. It's all over the floor. And the FURTHER good news is that you manage to leap out of the way of the falling glass, instinctively, before that happens.
The bad news is, perhaps, that you lose your balance a bit when you hit the glass, and lose your grip on the extinguisher. It sails out the window into the night air, lost to you. A moment later you hear it crash against what sounds like shrubbery.
Whoopsie!
