Burning Questions: Take Ms Brett out with you
This is "slapdashmonuments" creating a new Ficlatte account for the purpose of trying to write some Choose Your Own Adventure stories using Ficlatte's sequeling features. I'll tag work-in-progress parts WIP until the whole story is ready to play.

With a huge effort, you force Ms. Brett to a standing position, and drape her body across your back. Piggyback time! It's not ideal by any means, but it seems the best you can do. You try your best to make sure she'll stay on your back, take a step or two backwards, and throw your combined weight over the gaping hole of fire.
Your hands land right on the window sill, which is protected by the welcome mat you laid there, thank God. You've always liked your fingers, after all.
With one more jump, you'll be out of there. Heave, ho!
