Tamori Taka: The true sadness of an inability to learn to love
I have been HS Wift for the longest time now, through some of the darkest hours I have known, and it warms my heart to know that the light that led me through lives on still.
May it never die.
CRACK!
All magic comes with a price, and Taka was regretting the drawback of the particular protective potion she had just imbibed. While it dulled the sting of her opressors' whips, it bound her to the Earth, slowing her movements. Already slower than the other children due to her smaller stature, this made it impossible for her to flee, forcing her to stand there, subjected to the cruel laughter that followed every lash of every whip.
It was a few minutes before Keshintai arrived in the stables, wheeling on the bullies with a flurry of aggressive blows. After seeing them off, the young Mirumoto samurai in training turned to regard her friend, her kimono in tatters, her back a bloody mess. Seeing the stony enchantment of Taka's potion gave a brutally literal interpetation of the phrase 'drawing blood from a stone'.
Taking her sobbing friend by the arm, Keshintai took Taka to her home.

There is a slight typo here: "... this made it impossible for her to flee, forcing..."
