Tamori Taka: The presence of a star in the empty night sky

The silence hung there for what Taka felt was an age. She felt it clawing at her, suffocating her.
In truth it was only a few seconds before Keshintai burst out laughing, a great, heartfelt laugh. "Evil spirits? And people actually believe that stupid superstition?" Keshintai doubled over in another fit of laughter. Everything suddenly seemed so much brighter to Taka, seeing this young girl laugh honestly at the children who had been her greatest source of anxiety and loneliness.
The laughter faded and Keshintai bolted upright, a look of mock seriousness masking her face. "Oh, but we have forgotten our manners, we must observe proper etiquette." She said, imitating a voice to match her face. Seriousness gave way to a smile, and she thrust her hand out before her. "My name is Mirumoto Keshintai."
"Tamori Taka." She returned the smile and the handshake.
"A pleasure, Taka-chan." she said, grinning mischieviously, "Just don't incite any evil spirits upon me!"
