Bel: Sunset

"Wait! Please! You can't leave me out here at night!" Someone shouts from outside. I peek outside and see a person is running towards the halfway-closed doors. He’s being chased by a pack of mutant humans. I'm still surprised the mutants come out so soon after sunset here. I glance at Mia, she seems to be the leader here so I want her to make the choices.

"On my count, slam the doors shut." She orders. I tune out the rest because I'm calculating how much time I need to close the doors before the mutants get here.

"Do you trust me?" She asks and I nod. She starts calling people over to help and my mind races on exactly how we need to do this. I can only hear her when she starts her countdown as the man nears.

When Mia hits 'one' we all shove at the doors with every ounce of muscle, the screeching metal colliding with the sounds coming from the mutants. The man dives inside as we slam the doors shut. I hear the animalistic mutants clawing at the doors and a snarl of defeat from the other side of the doors.
