Unsafe Living Conditions

You know it's damn difficult to focus these days so you don't. You distract yourself with Youtube videos and Netflix, focusing on the new Dave Chappelle special and reruns of Friends or the Office. The outside world can burn without your help. It's beyond your control anyway. You can't even imagine being able to fix a single one of the overwhelming problems that threaten people, the environment, and the future all at the same time. Isn't it easier to be in the dark with friends that don't disappoint you? The couch is comfortable enough that you'd only have to move every few hours and you've got enough eggs and bread to make a dozen breakfasts before you'd need to go to the store—and aren't there delivery apps that will get all kinds of food delivered? You know there are. So maybe there's no reason to go outside at all. You can stay safe behind the screen and turn up the volume on your T.V. to drown out the screams until your door is forced open and you're dragged, broken and bleeding, out onto the street too.
