Fractal Realities: Revision
He was tired. He'd read the same sentence four times and he was still stumbling across the words like he'd never seen them before. He instantly dismissed the absurd thought that the book was rewriting itself as he read it.
Inserting the bookmark, he closed the book. The book was bound in black leather with the title in silver text on the spine: "Riemannian Manifolds: Practical Applications." The book contained nothing apart from dense text, mathematical formulae and no diagrams. If there had been a dust jacket, it was long gone.
It was a tough read, especially at this time of night. He closed his eyes and visualized several times the last sentence he had read.
After a few moments, he opened his eyes and looked again at the spine. The title was unchanged, "Riemannian Tensors: Practical Applications." He reopened the book where the bookmark had been inserted. The diagram that faced him seemed vaguely familiar. At the same time, it didn't seem to be quite the same as the diagram he remembered.
