Classy Lady
I dabble a little in a lot of things — writing, webcomics, gaming, photography, web design, music, and more. I write code full-time and words in the gaps in between.
The Classy Lady parks itself in a synchronous orbit above the asteroid Berger-Behregen before waking and decanting the crew. The ship locates and contacts the telemetry beacon planted in the surface of the rock while the members of the crew shake off the vestiges of hibernation sickness, gain their bearings, and begin to take up their stations on the bridge. The data from the beacon will become relevant to them soon, and Classy Lady wants to make sure the data has been properly parsed, analyzed, and distributed before the team is actually ready to look at it.
Captain Lindsey McMaren settles into her perch on the bridge and straps in, an anti-nausea stim patch attached to her neck. Thirty-seven years asleep does strange things to the human body, and it will be several days before she and the rest of her team feel anything remotely akin to normal.
"Status report, Lady," she calls out, and winces at the sound of her own voice. She makes a mental note to grab something for this headache later.
Prequels
No prequels yet. Why not write one?

I've had a craving to get back to writing something sci-fi again. This is the start of that.

Definitely. But let me finish setting the stage, if you don't mind. It's probably going to take two or three sequels to put the pieces into place, then you're welcome to jump off from there.
