Evicted/Invited? (Part 2 of 2)
Inspiration hits with a flash, stories written on the go. A rumble of laughter and the tale is heard only in echoes. The wind blows me in a new direction. Whom shall I visit next?
But then I hear a tiny sound
That stirs my mem’ry, brings me ‘round
To former joys. I used to know.
“Dear Anna? hi, I’ve missed you so!”
And I once more do hear that voice
I’ve loved so long, and I rejoice,
I’d never thought to hear them more,
Outside my dreams. So I implore
The Fates or Goddesses to grant,
Despite the failures, what I want:
To make a friendship, make it last
Until my worldly days are past.
Come love me, friend–or leave me be
Intact in singularity–
But if you choose my splintered soul
To love, you’ll be loved back, now for all.
