Dreaming
Was BluSparrow on Ficlets
Do you recognize me?
Yes, I changed my hair.
Yes, these clothes are different.
My confidence is showing,
I wear no mask these days.
I had a dream
Of a familiar face.
An acquaintance? A friend?
I searched for what I knew.
The face gave nothing away.
The friend said nothing.
.
At first, I pleaded,
Then I shouted.
I tried to reach out,
I couldn’t move.
.
The closer I looked
The more that face faded away.
Or maybe, I faded away,
Or maybe,
that person
was me.

Very nice. Melancholy, bittersweet, these are things I crave in poetry. Also I'm a sucker for dreams that resonate with me and this one does.
