Three Word Prompt: Broccoli. Mermaid. Protractor.
Inspiration hits with a flash, stories written on the go. A rumble of laughter and the tale is heard only in echoes. The wind blows me in a new direction. Whom shall I visit next?
I think it was the protractor that first caught my attention. Not many of my team of friends in the Roleplayers' Club are that engrossed in nostalgia for where they come from, as it's so much better here. And those who do keep souvenirs with them usually choose something cute that brings up happy memories. We're discouraged, after all, from tying ourselves down to specific places and people from back there, as it inhibits our growth. It's just not the right direction!
But there was her little gathering of worldly detritus, close to the space mermaid's cards and dice on the large and freeform gaming table.
She was three places away from me during the early stages of our current campaign, fidgeting with her broccoli and that protractor as she tried to stay focused on being a healer. Our rogue was wounded, and she just wasn't fully there. I wondered what made the girl retain that item. What was her angle? I thought.
I called her name, and as she looked at me...I knew she still yearned for a new world.

Agreed. When I saw the three words in the title, I was sure it was going to be forced but this doesn't feel forced at all. And the girl fidgeting with her broccoli is such a striking image. I'm actually a little jealous.

This is as far as my worldbuilding went, these little tangents wiggling around waiting for someone to discover more about them. Where does the broccoli come from? Before becoming a space mermaid, what was she--a Terran? What is this program and who controls it? What is the mermaid's name, and who's telling us the story?
I would love to see if you would like to expand this scenario...if you want to, of course!

Those were difficult words to put together, but the setting here is a great way to incorporate them. Bravo!
