The Great Escape

TheCheshireChris

I'm just this guy, you know?

To expand on that, I am also the following...

- A former ficly member who is 38 years old and is schizoaffective (depressive type)

- Into creating languages and fantasy worlds from scratch

- A listener of audiobooks & good tunes

- Always too hard on myself

I sat in front of the television. It had been a long night & a long day full of things in my head that most people probably wouldn't be able to fully understand.

That was ok though. I wouldn't want them to be able to understand what I went through every waking second of the day whilst trapped inside my own head.

What kind of escape did I want? Fantasy? Sports? A post-apocalyptic dystopia? There were so many options in front of me that it was hard to land on the one that appealed to me the most at any given time.

In the end, I don't think the genre I chose was the important part of the equation. I think it was just the pure & unadulterated escape that mattered most of all.

I would be in for a ride. Good, bad, whatever. At least it would be different & I think that was the most important aspect

Just to not be me. Even for a moment. Just to get away from the constant negative trash that made up my mind.

I closed my eyes & reached into my game drawer. I grasped & fingers the boxes until one felt right.

The video game aspect wasn't clear until I read the tags, although I somehow skipped over the second to last sentence on the first reading. At first I thought it was someone ready to watch some Netflix. Then I thought maybe it was a sci-fi thing where the cubes were experience cubes, cubes where you would hold them in your lap and escape for a few hours, like a holodeck for the mind. Or a book. lol.

Is the ampersand necessary to save space? If it is, I understand. If not, it's better to just use 'and' as it's less distracting.

Yeah, the ampersand was only because I was over the character limit and was being stubborn about editing it down in other ways. Haha. :-D

Clearly, game developers need to make cube shaped games for a hologram video game system.
