The Hearth of Harm
Candle scent and fire warms
Blankets soft and cheerful talk
Sweetened words and loving arms
Safe indoors from winter's walk
Eyes grow heavy
Sleep's embrace
Lulls us to another place...
...
Wake
alone
to muffled snores
House has gone to bed
All asleep behind their doors
All will soon be dead
Anchors drag them from their dreams
None will hear the others' screams
Crying for the distant beams
Of morning and of light
Huddled hands above my head
Frozen by the words I read
Silence fills me by the score
Prisoner by my right
Ever mourning
Ever night
Prequels
No prequels yet. Why not write one?

A Gypsy Heart
I liked the rhyme and flow
Though I think I should be sad, I'm not really
I just like it😊

So they are all dead? Words were read.. like some sort of magic spell gone wrong.. I'm not sure what happened here, which parts are real and which are allegory, but it leaves me feeling shocked and sad.
