Just Another Escapist

His heart stopped. Both Ambiter and Decceter were emblazoned at a crazy angle upon his mind in the second of totally unobstructed view his eyes were given. The sky, deep blue and littered with clouds above both lands, felt like a yawning abyss.

Then everything went black.

Moments, possibly seconds later, Hable came to splayed flat against the interior of the chute. A small circle of light admitting air created such a pressure that he almost couldn't breathe. Flipping over onto his stomach, he climbed the stitching back to the opening. The miracle was worthless if he died in the next minute.

Eyes watering and mouth tightly shut, he pulled himself over the lip just in time to see the last peak of the midrock. They were in Asbriong. Normally a craft could get stuck here, but their momentum far surpassed that concern.

Only one disaster had been avoided, just a few minutes to solve the next. Landing on Ambiter would be just as deadly without a proper catch site.

Gritting his teeth, he climbed out toward the box.
