Second Phone Call

Ring "Hello."

"Hey, what's up?"

"Glad you called. sigh Nothing much."

"You sound like something is up."

pause

"I wanna say I'm sorry if I was too overbearing."

"Overbearing?"

"If anything I texted or emailed left room for misinterpretation. Sometimes I feel like I come across too strongly and too mentally unhinged."

"I've just been busy. Is this about not reading your story?"

"No. It's about me jumping to conclusions and sending you notes because you are my friend and I miss you."

"Thanks for that."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Just tell me. Am I being too much? Too weird? Too...close?"

"You're fine. Stop worrying so much."

"I guess I'll try."

"Why does it bother you so much?"

"Because someone once stopped talking to me because they were embarrassed that I misinterpreted their little love notes. I thought maybe I pushed you away."

"No, never! We're gonna be friends forever."

"I'd make you pinkie promise, but there's this distance." laughter "I'm okay now."

"You sure?"

"Yeah."
