Blood Moon

South African.

Leafy goodness!

Quick hands. Moonlight flashing on a blade. Mooncat dying on a blade.

Grims dropped the knife and reached for his rifle, all senses searching for the remaining predator, but it had vanished into the night, courage overwhelmed by pack hunter instinct.

He wiped viscera from his forehead as he slowly got to his feet, returning the blade to his boot and running a hand over his right side. It came away red, but he would live for now – that would depend on the family, he guessed.

He shouldered the Corpseky again, the motion this time greeted by an old friend over his ribs, and continued along the rock dunes.

It wasn’t far now.

Hope it's OK that I butted in here - couldn't resist just writing ElshaHawk's comment into it.

Absolutely zero story progression, just resolved the conflict in a couple of sentences...sorry!

It's always ok to add sequels to an existing arc. Kinda the whole point, really. :)

I like the brevity of those first three sentences. Gives it a real sense of quick, tight action. It'll be interesting to see how the Korpsky clan reacts to Grims hauling the body of one of their kids in to their compound.

I understand, support and frankly love the premise of this site, but I certainly would have felt more than uncomfortable jumping into (by way of example) the middle of that Malika\Orthael series you and HSAR were\are running.

The Korpsky confrontation is certainly what I'm waiting for! Hoping that Robert (or you, or someone) has an idea for it...

Yup, I get suckered into some sequels when I didn't really think much beyond one story/segment. It's always surprising and kind of flattering. Welcome aboard.

Also gotta build up the anticipation for the encounter. So I'm taking it nice and slow. Hopefully we can pay off the build up in two to three more entries.
