Burning Questions: What happened to Burton?

This is "slapdashmonuments" creating a new Ficlatte account for the purpose of trying to write some Choose Your Own Adventure stories using Ficlatte's sequeling features. I'll tag work-in-progress parts WIP until the whole story is ready to play.

Soon enough, you hear him.

How many times have you heard the line?: "Oh, nooooooo!" Well, one more now than before. An explosion rips through the hallway, scorching the nefarious professor's behind slightly, but you both are uninjured otherwise. But Burton...well, it's a damn shame.

You move closer and closer to the front of the building, and start to yell for help. Once you seem to be out of danger from the fire, you leave Gundersen there and move with more agility to the window at the front of the building, which is shattered, and wave your arms.

They finally hear you.

You relax at long last, and fall into blackness for at least the third time today.

Overall, you'd say you'd done pretty well.

I'm proud of you, myself.

Now get some first aid, and some rest.
