Burning Questions: Return to the hallway with the water
This is "slapdashmonuments" creating a new Ficlatte account for the purpose of trying to write some Choose Your Own Adventure stories using Ficlatte's sequeling features. I'll tag work-in-progress parts WIP until the whole story is ready to play.

Reaching the line of fire in the hallway, you prepare to toss the water onto the flames. As you do, you smell the odor of gasoline, which you had failed to notice before, probably because you were too frightened.
You fling the contents of the bucket on the fire, where the water clears a space several feet wide. You've put part of the fire out!
Encouraged, you repeat this process for the whole first floor hallway, working until you're panting and sweaty, but you feel good about having helped the situation. You're starting to throw the second bucket of water onto the stairs when you hear sirens wailing from far away, and then drawing nearer. Help is on the way!

Woah. Cool, but all this time I was also carrying around a fire extinguisher I brought with me from upstairs! :D
