TRAILHEAD 1: Martin's Window
This is "slapdashmonuments" creating a new Ficlatte account for the purpose of trying to write some Choose Your Own Adventure stories using Ficlatte's sequeling features. I'll tag work-in-progress parts WIP until the whole story is ready to play.
The first full story, "Burning Questions," is available now:

Thunder crashed again. Martin looked up from his laptop, but could see little beyond the glow of his halogen desk lamp. Just for a moment, he had fancied that he could hear a deep rumble that was closer, something that was not the rain or thunder. Something...
He looked up again in surprise, shaking his head to clear it. Something was definitely close by. Something large. There had been no thunder this time. Martin sat stock still, his hand poised over the mouse. He didn't dare to shift in his office chair, for fear of a creak. That would give me away, came a strange and unnerving thought.
Martin glanced at the wall clock. It was seven seconds past midnight. The rain drove on and on, the wind howled, as it had been doing all evening.
Or was that the wind, after all?
He looked around at his tiny first floor apartment, part of a grand old wooden mansion from the 19th century. The wind rose and the whole house creaked around him, like the roll of an uneasy stomach.
What should I do? he thought, shivering.

Well, esteaming colleagues of FicLatte, for this first venture which I hope will be short, I may just do it all full-visibility from start to finish, and invite comment on the process....instead of keeping the later versions as drafts.
OH! There's a problem with that approach in that drafts cannot have sequels...which means I might have to implement that by publishing, writing a sequel, and then retroactively un-publishing the story by making a draft of it, so as to hide it till the whole story's done.
OH!~! Also! I have a rather neat story already written which I could post here...probably with some degree of foreshortening. I wrote it on Twine. Yeah, that's the tickette!

Excellent start. Unsettling and nerve-wracking, for so short a passage.
