2.
(informal, derogatory) a socially inept person with a hobby considered by most people to be boring
Everyone cried when they heard about Mary. Girls who hated her before the shooting blubbered like they'd been best friends. Not me. I guess it makes me a terrible person, but I think she deserved it.
Mary only went to Honey Creek to hook up with Jeremy. My Jeremy. Or at least, he used to be my Jeremy before that dumb slut came along. I mean, my God, we haven't even been broken up a month.
Now she's dead, Jeremy's in jail, and I'm left with a secret I won't be able to keep much longer.
The truth is, I'm already getting morning sickness.
God, my parents are gonna freak. I'll lose my spot on the cheerleading squad and probably have to drop out of school. I'll end up working at the Super Walmart by the interstate forever. My life is basically ruined.
So, no. I don't feel bad for her at all.

That's an interesting comparison that I'd honestly never thought about. I'm not certain there's as much of a moral to these stories as the Sting song. This is more of a "Spoon River Anthology"/"Twin Peaks" type of story.

Nice switch of POV, and great idea to use the opposing view of a person's passing.

Dyslexic me got the two J names, Jordan and Jeremy, confused at once so I had to go back again carefully to re-imagine it. My bad, but thought I'd mention it.
I wonder if you've heard Sting's song from "Mercury Falling," "I Hung My Head"? Sort of related. It's a cool groove in 9/8.
