Juliet stopped running. She had no idea where she was. The GPS navigation system in her head was gone, almost. It was like her head could only store so much information, whereas before she had uploaded everything to the Skyy, the United Corp's cloud service.

She tried to perform an analysis. Nothing. It seemed, to all intents and purposes, that she was 100% bona fide human. But how? She didn't have the energy to think it through. Her thighs ached. She had stumbled here like a mad chicken, still not completely sure what to do with them.

She turned to the sky, grey lines of cloud bright behind the tall dark buildings. The smog was real. She found a fire escape and started to climb.

At the top, before the roof, was a ladder. Every part of her hurt as she reached, one hand, one foot, one hand... Her grip wasn't as strong as it had been. A foot slipped and she body slammed into the ladder, then dragged herself to the top feeling bruised. She looked out over the city, and saw the red light.
