As it Was in the Beginning (2/2)
Inspiration hits with a flash, stories written on the go. A rumble of laughter and the tale is heard only in echoes. The wind blows me in a new direction. Whom shall I visit next?
The details of my enterprise--my private toil--
You abused me each night, satisfied I was loyal
Savvy confidence tricksters, like us, darling Master,
All have fingers so nimble and minds that are faster.
Tonight, I bucked the system, timed rebellion with care
I got slapped for my effort. You yanked on my hair.
You stormed that we're over, as if I loved you
As you dragged me away, there was blood on the snow.
No returns, and no refunds, but here's an exchange!
Master, here, meet my cudgel! It's time to arrange
For a new switch to stripe you, to take back what you stole
I'll take that, Master Nobody. Get in that hole,
And remain there, you rapist, you dastard, you fink
You are not worth my spit--Swallow poison now. DRINK!
And you'll hear me exclaim, driving off in the night,
"God is back in her heaven; and ev'rything's right--
"Let this slab be your blanket, my teacher, you shite!"
