Fall Promises (Poem)

Robert Quick

Where the -@!# did my muse go?

Writer, dreamer, knight, shackled by entertainment . . . and people.

You want love and presents and sweets

Swords of imagination

and Me to appreciate your deeds

All these I can do if you just come with me

My sky-castle is proof against the pain

with warm hugs and stair slides when it rains

fire-warmed chocolate, and the best of games

Yes, press your hand to the window pane

Follow me

Follow me

I'll follow you

and make sure you don't get left behind

We'll stay up late, watch the moon pay his due

Sleep in: you never need to go to school

Every breakfast will be your favorite food

and I promise that I'll never leave you

(even if you want me to--

which is unconditional love too)

Your dreams are the purest form of truth

Ignore whoever that is calling for you

They'll never love you like I do

Hurry! Together we fly off the roof!

Don't turn away

Don't turn away

I'll never go away

I'll never go away

I'll never

never go

go away

Eternal fall and no school? I'm in! But it's all not what it's cracked up to be, is it? Darn.

Story prompt:

I was listening to Come Little Children when the image of an angler fish popped into my head, you know the fish that lures other fish in with their light. Write a story about a Faerie that does the same with children except instead of light they use song.
