There is No Outlet through Arbor Grove
I am a fictional character, in name and spirit. I enjoy fire and necromancy, and making heterosexual adventure stories as queer as physically possible.
Calloused feet, like sandpaper, were no match from the hot, midday sidewalk. She had considered the grass, but thought better of it. She was an outsider, and it wouldn't be polite to walk through a stranger's grass.
The houses lining the streets were all unique, and but they all fit in that eerie suburban manner. She could feel the eyes of the neighborhood association watching her. Or perhaps they were watching the construction workers at the house on the corner, making sure the brand new walls didn't stray to close to the edge?
She walked around the cul-de-sac, and begin the trip back. Again and again, she made her laps, the pain in her feet growing, the house on the corner not. Day after day, she walked, and the house never grew, despite it's many workers, and the sun never set, despite the growing hours.
She knew exactly where she was, she knew every cross street and stop sign, and yet, the more she tried to leave, the more lost she became.
After all, there is no outlet through Arbor Grove...

Those feet though... ow. I like that the detail of her feet seemed minute until the end. Nicely done.

It also reminds me of the geography lesson from the movie Pleasantville... I really like it.

I note in the first line of paragraph two an "and but" which might not be intentional.
The name of this cul-d-sac is intriguingly semi-redundant...

You don't need a comma between hot and midday. You only need a comma if it the adjectives can be reversed and they can' t, in this case , because it would be a misplaced modifier. I love the word cul-de-sac you so rarely get to use it. Nice to meet you by the way.

This was a very intriguing and well written story. I don't if it was your intention, but this reminded me of the Sims games series. If it wasn't your intention, the tale grows more intriguing still, being trapped in this pocket of unmoving time.
