Stalky's Nightmare 2: Spring is Coming
Inspiration hits with a flash, stories written on the go. A rumble of laughter and the tale is heard only in echoes. The wind blows me in a new direction. Whom shall I visit next?
This could not last long. She'd known that even before the last cartoon had started. Time tapered to an endpoint. She gave herself a burst of strengthening fluids and entered into the lunges right on time, with as much zest as she could muster. The smiling visage atop her leaking shoulders never betrayed her pain. She kept as silent as she could.
Through the grate in the mouth of the hideous cartoon mouse, Stalky could see her boss standing by the stage, gazing anxiously at his clients in the orchestra seats. Ma Oaklee held a large carbonated drink for her darling boy, ready for whenever he chose to take a slurp from the bendy straw. When her grip wavered, he looked askance at her with a stern growl, and she steadied her arm. The drink dripped cold drops; Ma Oaklee dripped warmer ones. More moisture wasted, thought Stalky distractedly.
She gathered all her grace and strength for the finale, which began with a series of leaps: first backward, then diagonally and downstage, and finally across, en pointe.
