And Just As Suddenly As They Arrived
Trinity Keane tallied up her advantages. There were few of them, given that she was being chased by the police, but she noticed one - they don't know about my eye. That meant the fog wouldn't work on her.
She veered expertly, avoiding obstacles marked in green and pedestrians in orange. She shot out of the cloud at thrice the speed limit, and-
"So where the hell did they go?"
It was an hour later, and Captain Khan was livid, for multiple very good reasons.
First, she had slalomed into a brick monument while chasing a suspect. The car's plating and the airbag had absorbed most of it, but she still felt a bruise on her arm.
Second, the car she had been chasing had gotten away. When the smoke cleared, it was gone - it had knocked out its drones, disabled the GPS beacon, and disappeared. That was the most prominent problem, in the Captain's mind. She'd made mistakes in the past, sure, but she had never let a suspect get away.
She grabbed the incident report from the office building, and hoped for good news.
