Mia: Sunset

The elderly man was laying at Bel's feet as she torched the mutant to death. Mia froze. In Bel's hands were a can of hairspray and a grill lighter. This young girl, no more than 14, had fashioned a flame thrower out of two common objects and rescued an old man.

Mia wasted no more time, sprinting forward through the doors. The mutant was screaming, its vocal cords tearing from the force of the noise. The smell of the diseased flesh burning stung Mia's nose but she ushered forward still. As the mutant fell backwards, Mia grabbed hold of the man, now behind Bel and carried him to safety. She set him down a safe distance inside.

Bel shut off her makeshift torch and they started pushing the heavy metal doors shut. As Mia shoved on the door, a voice cried out.

"Wait! Please! You can't leave me out here at night!" A figure was stumbling quickly across the scorched earth, a pack of mutants following on all fours. Bel and Mia froze. Bel looked to Mia for direction. Mia's mind raced, adrenaline seeming to slow time.
