From Twitter, Jennifer Shelby writes, "They arrived in ships like dragons, breathing fire, and that is how we knew they'd been here before."

Who are they?

Reminds me of the Deathgate cycle. There the humans rode dragons but elves made dragon ships as competition. Fun stuff, if you like fantasy and written by Weis/Hickman!

Is Mrs. Shelby a writer here? Or are you trying to incorporate social media more?

I forgot about the Deathgate Cycle! It's been forever since I read that.

My own impression was of Robin Hobb's Liveship Trilogy. It's got living sea ships and dragons.

I think the most engaging aspect of this prompt is the part about "knowing them from before." I get that feeling very strongly in dreams. Something between a forgotten memory and deja vu.

I LOVE robin Hobb!!

Shelby Is not a writer here. I just wanted to cite my source.

I wrote a blog post about deja vu and PREja vu, a coined term that means when you experience an event in real life in real time that you KNOW you've dreamed before and it's so vivid and so trivial, like you were facing the same way, your view is on the same brick, you heard and smelled and saw the same things... that.
